Jain will take over from COO Sairam Krishnamurthy, who joined Instamart last August, and had also been essaying this role until now.
Prior to joining Instamart, Jain was SVP and head of grocery and large supply chain at Ekart Design at Walmart-owned Flipkart, where he has worked for over five years. At Instamart, he will be working closely with chief executive Amitesh Jha, who had also joined the quick commerce platform from Flipkart last August.
“Operations at Instamart have seen strong momentum over the past few months. Ankit’s deep, hands-on experience across e-commerce, retail, and FMCG will be a strong force in further strengthening our operations, leading the way in delivery speed, availability, and assortment for our consumers,” said Jha, in the statement.
Jain has over 20 years of experience in supply chain management and planning. During his tenure at Flipkart he oversaw the entire grocery supply chain, including warehousing, material movement and last-mile delivery.
“I’m particularly excited by the scale and complexity of the business and the opportunity to work on some cutting-edge solutions to improve its operations, especially as Instamart adds new cities and diversifies its category mix — all while staying true to the 10-minute delivery promise,” Jain said in the statement.

Before Flipkart, Jain had worked with Unilever for over 14 years in managerial and leadership roles, such as general manager of demand planning and director of logistics and warehousing. His exit from Flipkart comes in the wake of many other senior-level exits at the Walmart-owned ecommerce platform. The leadership churn is playing out at a time when Flipkart is attempting to focus on profitability.
In February last year, ET had reported that travel booking website Cleartrip’s head, Ayyappan R; marketplace and categories leader Jha; fintech and payments head Dheeraj A; and growth and retention head Bharath Ram, had exited the company.
